Why I’m Going All-In On Substack In 2025
Substack isn’t just another tool in my creator toolbox - it’s pretty much the entire workshop.
Over the years, I’ve been creating content on many different platforms - Medium, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, you name it.
And while each had its strengths, none of them ever felt like home.
That is, until I started using Substack. Now, I’m going all-in on the platform.
Substack isn’t just another tool in my creator toolbox - it’s pretty much the entire workshop.
Here’s why it’s the platform I’m betting on in 2025 (and beyond).
Substack Has a Healthy, Supportive Community
Let’s be real: A lot of social platforms are exhausting.
X (formerly Twitter) often feels like a dumpster fire of hot takes and negativity
LinkedIn can feel fake, like everyone’s trying to flex their highlight reel
Instagram is a never-ending cycle of people showing off
Substack is different.
The community here feels authentic, supportive, and real.
It’s a place where creators genuinely want to share their ideas and connect with others - not just chase likes or go viral.
On Substack, I’m having actual conversations with readers and fellow creators. I feel more at home here than on any other platform.
It’s An All-In-One Platform
Substack is like the Swiss Army knife of creator platforms. It combines the best features of:
Email Marketing (like ConvertKit): You can send newsletters directly to your audience’s inbox
Long-Form Content (like Medium): You can write detailed, high-quality articles that showcase your expertise
Short-Form Content (like X or LinkedIn): With Substack Notes, you can share bite-sized ideas, spark discussions, and interact with your audience
Instead of juggling multiple platforms, I can do everything in one place.
For example, I’ll write a long-form article, share a snippet on Notes to spark engagement, and send the article directly to my email list - all without leaving the platform.
You Get Paid for Your Writing (Monthly Recurring Revenue)
Monetizing your expertise is one of the best things about being a creator, and Substack makes it pretty simple:
You don’t need to sell ads
You don’t need to promote products or services
You don’t need to rely on unpredictable algorithms
With Substack, your subscribers can directly support your work through paid subscriptions.
It’s recurring revenue for doing what you love - writing.
Yes, you’ll have to make your paid offer irresistable…
Yes, you’ll have to create high-quality premium content…
Yes, you’ll have to learn how to promote your paid subscription…
But earning monthly recurring revenue for writing about topics you love is absolutely worth it.
Organic Growth Is Still Possible
On most platforms, organic growth feels … dead. The algorithms are saturated, and standing out is harder than ever.
But Substack has momentum, and organic growth is still possible.
In fact, we went from zero to 3,000+ subscribers in just five months (and became a bestseller in just 60 days).
Here are the biggest growth engines for our Substack publication:
Write Notes: Writing 3x Notes a day has been a game-changer for our visibility and engagement (about 30% of our subscribers come from Notes)
Newsletter Recommendations: Substack’s Recommendations feature is pure gold. By recommending other writers - and getting recommended in return - you can grow your audience exponentially (about 40% of our subscribers come from recommendations)
Unlike other platforms where you’re at the mercy of an algorithm, Substack rewards consistency and collaboration.
It’s refreshing to see real results from putting in the work.
Final Thoughts
For me, Substack checks (almost) every box:
It’s an all-in-one platform that combines the best of many social media platforms
There’s a healthy, authentic community I actually enjoy being part of
You can get paid (monthly recurring revenue) for writing about what you love
There’s still a big opportunity to grow organically without battling algorithms
(Honestly, the only thing I’m missing from Substack is automation, which is what I use ConvertKit for.)
All in all, in 2025, I’m not spreading myself thin across dozens of platforms.
I’m doubling down on Substack - and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead.
This sounds like a winning strategy. I am doing a lot with substack in the new year too. I love a lot of the "tools" offered. I'm still a beginner and have a small audience, but it's an audience and I have room for growth. Best of luck with your plans I hope you have a great 2025.
I agree wholeheartedly. Substack is a great community of a wide range. Welcome! Been on for over two years and engage with folks all over the world . An not familiar with convertkit How is this used?
