This Brand-New Substack Feature Makes My Writing Process So Much Easier

Adding strong call-to-actions has never been easier.

Substack just released the templates feature, and it’s a game-changer for your writing workflow.

Templates let you save any piece of content — a call to action, a product promo, an upgrade prompt — and insert it into any article with a single click.

You can find this brand-new feature in the top right of the post editor, and it’s very simple to use.

You create a template once, give it a name, write the content, and save it.

From that point on, whenever you’re writing an article and want to add that CTA, you don’t have to write it from scratch or dig through old posts to copy-paste it.

You just click the template, and it appears instantly in your article.

(You can also edit templates at any time, so as you refine your messaging, your templates improve too. And if a template is no longer relevant, you can delete it just as easily.)

Templates are especially useful if you have things to promote — a digital product, a paid tier, a workshop, a mini-course, etc. But also to create effective call-to-actions that encourage people to subscribe to your newsletter.

You can create a dedicated template for each one and always have the most refined, up-to-date version ready to go.

And here’s why this matters beyond just saving time: if your articles have no calls to action, you’re leaving real growth and revenue potential on the table.

Fortunately, this brand-new template feature makes it so easy to add a CTA that there’s really no excuse not to.
