This is great! Definitely going to start booking writing appointments with myself. I outline all my big and little content pieces on Sunday’s, making a committed time to writing is exactly what I need. Also validating to see keep things exciting - never want writing to become a chore.

This post was really helpful! I am stuck in the part of not scheduling time, so will star applying that strategy and pencil in scheduled time to sit and write. Thanks!

This was such an insightful read.

I’ve found 3 hours a day to be the sweet spot for myself. I can often do a little extra on top of this in the evenings. It seems like a lot, but I get into a deep state of obsession. Deep work and flow surrounds me when I write - every single time without fail. Thank you for your advice!

Sinem, when I started out, I asked myself those same questions. The topics I'm fascinated in are astrophysics, as in the nature of the Universe, Hemholtz layers in electrolating, cell physiology ...

I don't think I could generate an audience with any of those topics though....

Next I asked myself, "How could I help others?"

Cuz that's REALLY what I enjoy doing the most!

I've coached others, some people I didn't even know, how to get through specific life difficulties, how to be useful in a volunteer org when they "don't have any skills," and even how to find a better job.

(Everyone has skills they "take for granted," sometimes it just requires putting a name to them!)

But those things require trust before people will start asking me about such things.

(These things all happened because we were "in person" together, and they "fixated" on me as someone wise, I suppose.)

But how to do that online?"

That's when I finally decided to start with "How to develop a positive mindset."

I've gotten asked my whole life "How do you always see the positive?" Or "Stay upbeat, no matter what's..." Or "Be even-tempered" or "Keep your cool when..."

So that's the first thing I write about.

That's at jeffro55.substack.com

I also included under that heading various Sections about different topics that I wanted to write about. They're actually related, too.

But the biggest one, that I call "Brain Engage" (maybe I need to change the name?) is about some specific techniques that I discovered as a kid, and have used my whole life to accomplish things that seemed impossible. Find it at BrainEngage.substack.com.

I have ideas for developing specific lessons that people can download to learn them.

I still don't have much of an audience, but I'm learning how to write in a way that will get people's attention, and motivate them to 'scribe.

So far, everyone I've convinced to check out my Substack has liked what I write! So it is building, even if slowly.

The bottom line is, anyone can figure out what to write about, even someone who is technical and mechanism-focused like me!

Thanks for all you do, Sinem!

👍👍👍

Thanks for the reinforcement - I am right on track with your suggestions. I never plan to monetize my account, so my goals (reach more readers) are more achievable, but I still try to keep to a schedule.
