Every Substack Creator Should Have *This* Digital Product In 2026
I built an entire online business using just this digital product...
If I could add only one type of digital product to my Substack in 2026, I’d add mini-courses.
Not e-books.
Not templates.
Not a 20-hour flagship course.
But mini-courses.
And I say that with confidence because I built my previous business, Peak Productivity, almost entirely with mini-courses (and those little digital assets generated multiple six figures in sales in just a few years).
I believe every coach, consultant, expert, and Substack creator (who wants more freedom, more revenue, and less stress) should have at least one mini-course in their online business.
Here’s exactly why I believe that…
Mini-Courses Give You Freedom
When you create a mini-course, you create a digital asset that can generate income around the clock - even when you’re not working.
And with a few simple automations (like email sequences), a mini-course can truly sell on autopilot.
This is what I love most about mini-courses.
They disconnect your time from your income, so you have more freedom to spend your time doing what you love.
In fact, it’s because of my mini-courses that I achieved one of my life-goals: becoming an Ironman triathlete.
Training for an Ironman requires about 20 hours per week.
Every single day, I was swimming, biking, or running. It was basically a part-time job.
But even during that period - while I was exhausted from long training sessions - my business kept running because mini-course sales kept coming in.
I’d be on a long bike ride and get Stripe notifications.
I’d be training abroad for three days and $500+ in mini-course sales rolled in.
I’d be recovering from a training session and someone bought my mini-course.
If I hadn’t built these mini-courses, training for the Ironman would’ve been so much more exhausting, stressful, and overwhelming.
So, if freedom and flexibility are key reasons you’re building an online business, mini-courses are the right fit for you.
Yes, you need to put in the work to build one.
But once you’ve done that, you have a digital asset that works for you - especially if you’ve put smart automations in place.
Mini-Courses Make Your Entire Business More Profitable
Statistics show that if someone buys from you once, they are 76% more likely to buy from you again.
That’s why mini-courses are such a powerful offer.
They’re affordable.
They’re valuable.
They’re low-risk.
In other words, they’re a great entry-point offer that turns strangers or casual readers into first-time buyers.
And once someone is a buyer, the entire relationship changes:
They trust you more
They consume more of your work
They are more likely to buy future products
They are more likely to join your paid community
They are more likely to join your high-ticket coaching
At Write • Build • Scale, we see this every single week.
Someone buys one of our digital products, then they join our paid community, and then they join one of our high-ticket coaching programs.
So, yes… The revenue a mini-course generates is great.
But the fact that it acts as a gateway into your other products and offers makes it even more profitable on the back-end.
That’s why I believe every coach, consultant, or expert should have a mini-course.
Selling a $1,000+ coaching package to someone who has never bought from you is quite a challenge, but selling them a $97 mini-course is pretty easy.
After they’ve bought the mini-course and received positive results from it, selling a $1,000+ coaching offer has now become 10x easier, since there’s far more trust established.
So, mini-courses can be a powerful entry-point offer that makes your entire online business more profitable.
Mini-Courses Are Easy to Sell
Most mini-courses sell for $27 - $97, making them a true impulse buy.
It’s a price point that most people can easily say ‘yes’ to without having to think twice.
But aside from the impulsive price point, mini-courses are easy to sell because of clarity.
And clarity is one of the strongest sales drivers on earth.
Most flagship courses (with 10+ hours of videos) fail because they try to teach everything… and that confuses the customer.
Mini-courses do the opposite.
They say:
“You have this exact problem? This mini-course can help you fix it today.”
“You want this specific result? This mini-course will help you get it.”
This level of clarity leads to more conversions.
When someone struggles with a specific problem, and you have a $37 - $97 mini-course that fixes that exact problem, it’s a no-brainer purchase.
Mini-Courses Are Fast to Build (And Ship)
Mini-courses solve one highly specific problem or help someone achieve one very specific result.
That’s the key.
You’re not teaching “everything about productivity.”
You’re teaching “how to stop procrastinating this week.”
You’re not teaching “everything about improving your health.”
You’re teaching “how to meal prep high-protein meals on a budget.”
This means a mini-course is usually just 1–2 hours of video content.
Not 10.
Not 20.
Not a huge “ultimate” course that takes you months to create.
Just one short course - that delivers a clear result - which you can build and sell in less than a few weeks.
For most people, this is the difference between actually launching something… and getting stuck in perfectionism, overthinking, or never-ending course production.
Mini-Courses Actually Get People Results
People rarely finish these big courses with 10 - 20 hours of video lessons. Completion rates are usually under 10%
Most people are already busy enough.
If they now also have to watch 20 hours of video lessons, you’re simply adding a bunch of overwhelm to their plates.
But mini-courses are much shorter - usually only 1 - 2 hours of video lessons.
People can actually finish an entire mini-course in an afternoon, which means the completion rate of mini-courses is far higher (usually above 50%).
And when people actually finish your course, they:
Take more action
Get better results
Feel more accomplished
Associate YOU with their progress
If someone gets real results because of your course, they’re much more likely to become a repeat buyer, loyal community member, 1:1 coaching client, or ambassador for your brand.
In other words, a mini-course is a great way to turn first-time buyers into superfans.

I really appreciated your point about mini-courses. That format makes so much sense, and it’s something I may consider exploring in the future. Thanks for the insight!
Looking forward to the session!
Love to see how it can be leveraged and how to come up with great and useful courses to generate that value based on existing skills and knowledge.
Based on the post, I'm sold that it's a good offering to have, but I'm interested specifically in how each person bridges that gap of knowing things and then knowing how to shape something from it and sell it.
