Thank you for this!

I feel like I am Very much the target audience. Sitting on the fence for years ( bad case of imposter syndrom and idolising most writes to the point of not allowing myself to write let alone post anything). I am just at the first steps - but hey at least I started posting - if only on notes so far. It took all my decisiveness to start.

I was specially moved by the Roosevelt comment. I also love ”The man in the arena” often quoted written speech by him.

Proud of you for starting with Substack notes! Those first public posts are the hardest.

Just keep writing and posting, no matter what. Imposter syndrome grows weaker with every post you make :)

Jari, so much you shared either spoke directly to my experience or validated much that I had intuitively felt but previously not read or put into words. So much encouragement that I am essentially on the right path, just need to learn how to do what you recommend better. Loved the guide not guru part. Your bullets under writing about productivity at age 23 were particularly affirming and instructive for me. Thanks so much! I especially hope one day to write an article that is this thoroughly spot on for members of my (still getting started) audience. I even forwarded this to a friend not yet on substack.

Great stuff! I felt like every sentence was written with me in your mind. I've suffered with Imposter Syndrome most of my life which, of course, goes hand-in-hand with fear. In my younger days, I was very successful to all outward appearances. But I felt like a complete fraud. Every day when I went to work, I thought that today I would do something that would allow people to figure out that I was a fraud. Going to work, I always pictured in my mind that I was in a fighter jet that was crashing into the ground. Not a good mindset to go to work with.

But I clearly need to undergo all 3 of the suggested mental shifts.

Thanks.

Thanks for the great advice Sinem 😄 I’m just getting started so it’ll take me a while to build up the quantity, but I can definitely focus on the first two shifts in the meantime!

These are fundamentals that I need to remind myself over and over again. It's applicable as a writer, as a craftsman, in fact in any part of your life.

Thanks for the article.

Jari, joined this publication recently. I’m coming in here to read everything about writing. I’m not a writer I don’t have any formal education on writing, although my grandmother was a published writer. I came to Substack for many different reasons, but I have a lot to say to help others grow and heal. My expertise is in other area. I believe I’ve written over 73 articles here and I look back at the first ones I wrote and I cringe so apparently I’m getting a little better at it.

I think different articles need different formats especially if I’m doing something scientific. It all does come from my heart but it’s a different type of writing and I think you understand that I’ve written down ideas that I’ve had come to me that I was so passionate about but I didn’t write it at that current time so I put it away when I came back to ride it I didn’t have the passion so I didn’t write it. I have to write while I’m having that passion whether it’s anger or frustration joy love whatever it is and those are pretty raw and very transparent.

So I start on a journey here and I’m reading through all the articles that you have about writing because that’s what I need to get better at and I know it comes with practice. They say practice makes perfect, but then there’s another angle on it that no perfect practice makes perfect. But perfection is so subjective in my opinion and I am a recovering perfectionist, so really don’t wanna go down that road.

I absolutely love the article, and I will continue reading every single one of them, and I am absolutely sure that my writing will improve. Honestly, as I was reading this article, there were so many things personal experiences that I could tie into my teaching based on your examples here, so I am ready to try them out.

Thank you very much 💯🙏
