You're by far not alone. A lot of our clients are in very similar positions. They are busy professionals. They've had businesses for years or decades, and now they are building publications that they can leverage effectively.
The most important part here is that your subscribers' deck publication is aligned with the assets and goals you already have. We basically want to make sure that everything you're building and investing time in will compound in the future. We are running a private coaching program where we work with you directly to get everything right. If that sounds interesting, you can learn more about it here: https://www.substackcoaching.com
Love this! I wonder if you think that the first point works well for those of us writing a Substack not focused on business/writing?
I tried to raise my monthly rates but it just meant no one went paid.
I did a sliding scale for one of my Subs because it's Tarot-card focused and I realize it's niche and not something most people will spend a lot on. The other has the standard $5/month.
Hi Christie! In most cases, yes. The exception is if your target audience is very price-sensitive. Generally, what we aim for is not the regular one-off upgrades but using the pricing element as an anchor during dedicated promotions and sprint launches simply because that’s when the vast majority of subscribers upgrade anyway :)
As a guy called out of retirement in SoCal to implement the largest expansion in VA healthcare in a generation, this resonates. I have a hard time leading with my credentials, but thank you
The monthly pricing idea is great! I also need to share more credentials in notes. Thanks for this helpful information.
This is great. I loved the part about wrong timing at the right platform, I feel I’ve worn myself thin across insta, LinkedIn and Substack.
I wonder if you have something for professionals.
I’m a Chartered Accountant, and I run a private practice,
I’m using Substack as a platform to talk about my experiences helping my clients, and life in general.
I wonder if there’s a growth strategy for that…
Hi Shashank! :) I’m glad this resonated!

Can you clarify what is the “Credential” you mentioned in Notes. Thank you
