The "<10% paid subs" stat is the real punchline. If most of your revenue comes from coaching/courses your Substack drives, the next question is: which specific posts pull the high-LTV readers, not just paid subs?
The 5 pillars are about top-of-funnel volume. The leverage move underneath is figuring out which posts attract the right readers — and few creators measure it.
Great tips. However, your whole post assumes the creator has a product or a service / advisory service to offer. Many creators do not have this. They write their ideas, opinions, analysis. These cannot be productised the same way you assume. ie paying for a subscription does not change the product delivered. Of course, the advice re the use of Notes, recommendations, is useful for all creators, but for 'ideas/opinions' posts, we need other ways to attract and keep paid subscribers.
This really changes how you look at it, it’s less about writing better posts and more about building a full system around them.
